Not a VP virgin anymore
Not a VP virgin anymore
Just intalled my first VP. Not too bad, I had to install the new bracket and had some issues with getting the bolts to line up. It took me longer to fight that than it did to remove and install the VP. I guess I'm also now a pro at installing the power steering pump.
I think I have a small air leak on the boost tube, it whistles under load. Other than that, no issues.
It was a rather expensive repair, but the truck definately runs and drives better. I didn't find a bunch of new HP, but the weird cackles at part throttle are gone, better power up hills, and hopefully - no dead pedal!!!!!
Hopefully with proper fuel supply and low pressure precautions, I have fixed this ticking time bomb for good. Only time will tell.
Thanks to all for their help.

And if you install a pressure gauge, don't ignore it like i did, my vp is going out again and its only 6 months old, i guess i should have invested in a better lift pump sooner rather then thinking i'll get around to it one of these days lol.
Good luck
