Yea someone else said this to me, but it just seems as if it had an off/on switch. Because it has no power when it does it, and then when I step into it, it builds up rpm's and then flicks back on, instant turbo power again...

But then most of the time no problem at all, it seems to do it more when its cold!!!

Exclamation

Well for future refrence when someone asks about this again don't be so quick to jump @ a fuel problem especially if they have a NEW (not rebuilt) IP and LP...

Come to find out my TPS sensor is getting low voltage, or about to kick the bucket..

I found this out cause it finally threw a check engine light...

If you have a 2001, you have an apps. The apps controls the fuel cycle in the injector pump, so it was fuel related.

A sensor is far from being fuel related its just a potentiometer (adjustable resistor). All I'm saying is these vehicles are controlled by a lot of sensors and eletrical devices, So don't be so quick to blame it on a bad LP or IP. Their are alot of other minor pieces to the puzzle..

The TPS (apps) sensor can be reset...

Sometimes this helps but if not...$350 from Cummins part#3937162

Your slow spooling problem WAS fuel related.....it was the lack of adequate fueling that caused the slow spooling in the first place.....what caused the low fueling condition was your APPS. These guys were steering you in the right direction by suggesting there was a fueling problem. What caused the fueling problem was a sensor directly related to how the ECM goes about selecting the appropriate fueling map and ultimate fueling. Don't be too harsh on the guys that are trying to help you diagnose a problem over the internet....we all know it can be hard enough to diagnose some of these problems when the truck is in front of you!

I'm not being harsh, its all in good fun....

But 9 times out of 10 if you do a search on this forum you will see that every chance someone gets to diagnose a problem they start with a bad LP or IP, its almost as if everybody that has had to buy one of these wants someone else to go through the cost and misery...

I know these trucks have bad IP and LP problems, but if I just installed both of them NEW (not reman) we could rule those out since its very rare that you would get a bad one from Cummins...

And I know someone else has experienced this problem on thier 24v,and I know they were just tryin to help!

Well if someone else has these symptoms we can relate to this discussion insted of just saying that they need a new IP or LP...

Cool ....I agree that many guys do hop on the IP/LP band wagon quickly and it can be frustrating to ask for help in diagnosing a problem but all too often it is VP44 related and this can cloud the fact there are other problems that can cause similar symptoms.
