Correct. You would need a special box (a guy named "Howard" used to make them).

It had like a control **** on it, sold in the low $200 range I think.

Why not? I know the 98-01 trucks can have it enabled by the dealer, or a friend with a Smarty. It is automatic, and will only activate when several criteria are met.

Wait a minute, we are all taking about two different things.

When I responded I was referring to a USER controlled "high" idle. JS is correct about the regular high idle, it SHOULD work on it's own.

All he said was high idle, so I figured he was talking about the high idle feature available on these trucks. User controlled stock feature? No. Automatic controlled stock feature? Yes. Manual control DIY? Yes. I have the last two.

The dealer can do it. Yours is just being difficult. Got a friend with a Smarty?

I have an appointment on tue to have mine enabled, and the service advisor seem to know what I was talking about, said it would take 10mins, so I guess I'll find out come Tue. if I will get the run around or a 3cyl hi-idle.

Jeff 222, I'm coming home to Swift Current for Christmas. You can borrow my Smarty if that dealer is messing ya around!!! My parents live in Cadillac. I know that's a little ways away but let me know...
