No codes with WOT condition..how can that be?

I posted under another thread that I have been having dead peddle issues for about a year. This turned into an "idle okay touch the accelerator and get wide open throttle" condition. I replaced the APPS and have reset it numerous times and I have the same scenario. I did not have a check engine light but know that some codes do not trigger the light so I idled into Advance to hook up a scanner...no codes. I cannot believe this! I have a binary accelerator (idle and WOT) and I get no codes?!

In addition I noticed that the air intake heater relay had a melted terminal so I replaced that. I don't think this is playing a part as it hit 90 today in NE PA.

One other note of interest is that during one of the APPS resets I could not start the truck until maybe the 5th try. I keyed off each time and left it set for a few minutes between tries 3 and 4 so I wouldn't cook the starter. Once it started I get the same binary accelerator condition.

HELP!

Yes, I have checked the APPS voltage on the ECM. It checks out okay.

Now you have to tell us how you checked the APPS voltage at the ECM and what were the readings. We can then determine if you checked it properly.

What was the pin number of the terminal where you checked it? What was the reading at half throttle?

Pin 23. The voltage matched what is on the label on the back of the sensor.

I have not heard about checking the voltage at half throttle, but I am not able to do that anyway since I have essentially a binary throttle response: idle and WOT. I have checked the resistance unplugged and the potentiometer appears to be functioning okay (0.2-2kohms).

APPS signal is at pin 30 of the front half of the ECM connector, not at pin 23.

You should measure the voltage at pin 30, it should gradually decrease from 5v at idle all the way down to 0v at WOT, as you gradually push down on the pedal. You should also verify that your ON-idle and OFF-idle switches inside the APPS are working properly.

The impression I get from reading your last post is that you are somewhat reluctant to do the testing required. There is no other way to solve your problem. If you are not comfortable with the use of a multimeter, then by all means get someone more knowledgeable to help you.
