Newbie with Questions

Purchasd a 2001 3500 Dually QC with a 24valve cummins and has a 5 speed manual.

I since found out it has the 53 Block, what does that mean, and what can I do?

It has 179,000 miles, runs great, How do I know if I have the original lift pump or if it has had the conversion?

Steering box seems like it may be going out, the steering is responsive and firm, but you can feel some bumping or knocking like something is loose underneath, is this s known problem and if so, what do i need?

Paid 15,500$ OTD everthing.

thanks

The 53 block would crack and leak antifreeze, it would of cracked by now if it was going to. Don't worry

Yes you will need to fix some steering parts. Ball Joints tie rod ends steering box etc... will be worn with 175k. Just replace bad parts with stronger aftermarket parts! Lukes Link and DSS brace are also good upgrade fixes. Run a search!

Its probably not the original LP and more then likely not the original IP. Dont worry about it...get a fuel pressure gauage, check the codes through the ignition. If it aint broke dont fix it...The steering will probably be worn replace as required
