New Valair clutch - clutch wont disengage

Hi, I know this has been posted before, but I cant find it. I just installed a new Valair heavy single disc clutch. They said my stock hydraulics would be fine, but I cant get it to disengage. I Can start it in gear with the clutch in, but it rolls forward. Once rolling, I can't shift. It's like the clutch isnt working. I think this is a common problem. What could it be? thanks, -Evan

I just put in a Valair last Friday. When I first started the truck up, I had the same problem. It went away after I cycled the clutch several times.

If your pedal is hard then something is wrong, diaphram clutches have easy pedal pressures, are you sure you got the fork in right,

Not having the clutch disk lined up right on the flywheel could cause the clutch to not disengage. Also, the pilot bearing being damaged when the transmission was slid back to the motor could be a possibility. If it didnt go back together real easy, thats what I would look into.

Verify that you're getting enough travel from the clutch slave. I'm not sure exactly how much you need. You could check in the service manual or maybe somebody will chime in here. Definitely call ValAir though--they're the experts and can probably give you some things to look at.
