New Transmission! Recommendations?

Gentlemen of the DTR. I believe the time has come that I may be in need of a new 47RE transmission in the old pick-up. I do minimal towing with this truck, mostly a farm/work truck. The hardest work it has seen in the last year was yanking some trees from the Huricane into the woods from my neighbors yard's.

I have been looking at the ATS transmission that comes with the TQ Converter. The truck has about 180k miles on it right now and is pretty much stock. Anyone have any ideas on how to save some money on a new transmission? Any recommendations or experience with any of the builders?

You better do some research.
there are those who love em and many more who can't get service without special connections.

I notice you have Suncoast parts in your other truck, are you not happy with Suncoast? Just wondering why you would go to an unknown company when you have a known good company in your other truck.

Well, in my 2011 I drive it much, much harder!! I was kind looking to go a little less extreme on the old truck. I did do some research on Goerend and DTT today. Both seem to be pretty darn good. Suncoast is not a bad option just alot more of a transmission than I really needed, I think.

I did not think that this truck was gonna crap out on me like this but I have been through all the options and everything is pointing to trans issues. I will know by tommorow 100% but I gotta make a trans/converter decision very soon as this truck has to be back on the road ASAP.

I went Goerend on my 2000 and loved it. Miss it actually. Not one complaint. This was after I broke an input on the first rebuild by local shop. All I can say is do it right the first time. good luck!
Question: on your new truck, what do you think of the H&S Tranny tuning running with the new converter? Hold the power well?

walks, thanks for the recommendation.

As far as the H&S trans tuning and the new converter, it holds 100% all the time. Believe me when I say I have been pushing this truck. I will definately be putting a transmission in it as soon as this one gives me fits but nothing thus far. I see over 35lbs of boost daily and I push the pedal to the floor. ZERO issues over the last 15K miles.

A+ in my book and a must do. Well worth the cash

cool! Thanks for the reply. I am wanting to do deletes soon and debating on which way to go. Leaning towards H&S because of the tranny tuning option.

Going on a year with my ATS Stage II in my 99 and I love it. I hammer it up and down the front range all day long with no issues. I have had nothing but a positive experience with them from day 1.

If your not to far from the Norfolk, Va. area I'd suggest you call Tim Barber at TRE Diesel. He can build you a tranny and is also a DTT installer.

i bought my parts and got them installed by a tranny shop was cheaper then getting a full tranny done & shipped. DTT 89% T/C, Opie shaft, TransGo shift kit, BD black flexplate, and HD bands & service kit etc. over 1yr no problems & 1670TQ later ... Second choice was Goerend.
