New Short Block

how yall doing, i have been looking for a new/remaned 24 valve short block. i have a cracked 53 block and it needs to be replaced bad. talking a 14 inch crack. and right now im deployed in iraq and its hard for me to call around to places to try and hunt one down. so i figured i would inquire to the diesel gods to see if any of yall knew where i could locate one at. im going to be headed back home in about 2 weeks (finally) and was wanting it to be there when i get back to base so i can throw it together and get home to see the family. any help or advice would be much appreciated. thanks all
Jake

I would just order a new storm block from Cummins and get some new rings and bearings and full gasket kit , pull everything off your engine and install on the new block and your done , done it many times, or if you have less then 150,000 miles , Cummins will do it with only labor charge and consumable items charged to you. they will pay all the hard parts along with new block.

i didnt really feel like messing with the crank and pistons, thats why i wanted a short block so i could slap on the heads and be done. and i have about 250K miles on it so. cummins wont do anything.

If you are going thru all that I would suggest geting a recon head from cummins too. Just had mine magna fluxed and had 14 tiny tiny cracks (can't see them w/ naked eye) scattered all along head around the valves.
