New pump, same problem, no codes?

I recently put a new Blue chip pump on my truck, it had the 216 code and was starting real hard. After putting the new pump on, the install went really well, I bleed the fuel system and the truck started just fine and everything seemed ok. But after letting the truck sit over the weekend it is doing the hard starting thing again. I have check underneath the truck for leaks but everything seems dry. Once the truck does start it instantly runs smooth and it drives fine, has power like before. Not sure what to check next. Truck is an 02, with RV 265, Big Dog 150 fuel pump. Thanks.

Sounds like you might be gettin some air in the fuel. Be sure the tank is over 1/2 full. There doesnt need to be a fuel leak on these truck in order to get air into the fuel system.
The O ring on my fuel filter cap had a crack in it a while back and it would have a hard time starting after it sat for a while. But when it was running there was no problems.

Sounds like a fuel line air leak to me too. I would go over the whole fuel system looking for loose fittings or damaged parts.

Thanks for the replys. I talked to a mechanic friend of mine and he was thinking it could be in the head. Something like the tubes that go to the injectors from the lines. I will check the fuel system a little closer I thought that I would see fuel leak from the bad spot but I guess not. Thanks again.

Is your lift pump running? had that problem when my lift pump was getting poor contacts and had to wiggle it to make it pressurize the IP. It would crank long and fire up, but if I wiggled the switch it would pressurize the IP and fire instantly.

Thanks, good thing to check though. The lift pump is working if I bump the starter I can hear it running. I do need to get a fuel pressure gauge, but its and Airdog 150.

Has anyone had trouble with the fass or airdog draw straw. I think mine has a crack, when I fill the truck up with fuel problem goes away and the truck starts just fine. When the tank gets down to 3/8 or so it doesn't want to start.

if the pickup had a crack in it i would have a real hard time startin if it would start at all. it is a possibility. on my '01 the check valvein the return line off the pump will stick idk what the tank level has to do with it but i seem to notice it when around a 1/4 tank of fuel and starts fine when fuel level is above that

That is something I didn't think about, where excatly is the check valve at? I would prefer to not drop the tank down again unless I have to. Thanks!

there are two lines on the side of the vp44 the back one if i remember right has the check valve in the banjo fitting. i still had good fuel pressure when mine stuck last but iwoud hang open just enough to bleed the fuel out. if i bumped the starter and let the lift pump cycle it would fire right off
