Question New Member, VIN?

Hi guys, new member here. I tried to search to find an answer to this question, but the search function doesn't seem to be working. Anyway my question, is there a way to tell if a truck is a HO or SO just by the VIN? The reason I ask is I sold my last truck and after 2 PSDs in a row ( a 97 and a 99 ), I have decided my next truck will be Cummins powered. The problem is every time I do a search on AutoTrader or E-bay all I see is 5-spd trucks and I know the HO only came with a 6-spd, I don't want an auto. Then I got to thinking, maybe some of the ads are misprints and at least some are actually 6-spds. Since all of the ads have a VIN listed, if I could just look for a certain character in the VIN it would save me the trouble of having to call each seller and ask if it is really a 5-spd or a 6-spd. I would prefer a 6-spd HO, but if all I can find is 5-spds then I guess that would work. Sorry for the long post and thanks for the help.
