What is a silencer ring?
Why do some of your signature blocks point out that you don't have one?
Do I have one? How do I tell?
If so, do I want to get rid of it?

removed mine yesterday, makes the turbo whistle louder, if you remove air filter inlet tube you will see it. there is a "circlip" holding it in place, probably takes 10min if your being careful, much less if you have done it before.

By removing it you create more "turbo whistle" aka noise.
Remove the air intake hose off of the turbo and you'll see a large snap ring holding the "silencer ring" in place. If you think you'll like the sound (whistle) similiar to that of a harrier jet taking off when you accelerate then remove the snap ring and "silencer ring." Drive for awhile and you decide you don't like it then just reinstall it. Fun at first but now I hardley even notice the whistle.

 

So my question is, has anybody actually done real live testing to see if removing the ring increased power or torque output.
