new guy, missing power (sometimes)

i have a 01 that is bone stock all of a sudden the thing acts like someone has stuck a potatoe in the exhaust sometimes, turn the key of and it will return back to running normal when i restart. a couple of other things have also worked letting off the pedal completly for a second or two, or putting the pedal to the floor. although these don't work evertime so far cutting the truck off and back on has rectified the sitiuation, i have done the "key on - key off" and i get "p 1693". any ideas? thanks in advance

Sounds like a dead injection pump. Go have your codes pulled and see what you get. Also have your lift pump checked for pressure.

I have an 02 that was doing the same thing i would have to push in clutch and allow rpm's to drop to idle release cluth and regain throttle. Ended up being injection pump. Just changed it out yesterday seems to be running fine.

Same deal was happening on my truck.

I just got it back from the dealer today with a new injection pump. Problem fixed.
