New fluid time!

So, I've got the back of my NV4500 sitting on the ground while I wait for a new 5th gear nut (threads are trashed at both ends but the output shaft is fine). I'm thinking, the truck has 170k miles and as far as I know the oil has never been changed in the diffs, trans or transfer case. Time for new lube, and it's synthetics all the way around.

What oil do you recommend? Do the 241's take ATF like the 231's do?

I checked the FAQ and stickie posts but didn't see any information on capacities. Does anyone have a reference for the axles?

Hey, awesome link! That's got all the information I need on capacities. Now I just need to figure out what type of oil to throw into the axles.

I run 75w90 synthetic oil year around in my truck. Works good for me. If you do alot of heavy pulling you might want to 75w140 in the rear diff.

Anytime....On the fluids....I've always been recommended to Amsoil. I've always ran Royal Purple in my other vehicles, but I think I'll be making a change over to Amsoil for the truck. That's just my .02 though.

In my NV4500 I use Redline MT-90 , GL-4 75-90
If I remember correctly GL-5 is not reccomended.
Front&rear diffs and T/case I use Amsoil.

I just responded to a thread were the writer, wrote. It was not recomended to run synthetic in a cummins because it has flat tappets(lifters) and will cause problems. Why would a oil that will reduce wear and friction, cause any problems, regardless of recomendations
