new clutch time
new clutch time
So it looks like it's time for me to start looking for a new clucht. I have heard good about SB on here, but dont know which one I need, of if another would be good for me.
Not looking at big power, maybe a programer, and occasionaly towing 32' 5er over a 6%-8% grade, about 5 miles long. Also it's my daily driver.

My truck is a daily driver and I also tow a fiver sometimes. MY truck is registered for 26,000 lbs and sometimes I get close to that weight. My stock LUK clutch lasted 180,000 and the throwout bearing was ready to go , so I put the same stock LUK back in.The original stock plates had lot of thickness to them, it was the fingers where they contact the throwout bearing that had worn too thin. I needed a clutch pronto. It is just fine for me. Now, a bunch of South Bend guys are prolly going to chime in but thats to be expected. If you have the bucks and the time to wait for shipping, I might wait for the SB. But there is no logical reason to get scared away from the stock LUK. It will be the same as it is now and your throwout bearing will give out anyway.
