Need to replace the steering box.....
I need to replace my steering box soon and I was looking at Red-Head steering box, it looks like a pretty good unit from their write-up in their web page. As any of you bought a steering box from them? And how do you like it?

I have not yet purchased a box from them, as the last one I needed was needed NOW.
That said, I did talk to them on the phone, and the knowledge is definitely there, from technical, to exact processes used.
It was good to talk to someone who wasn't reading a "script" too.
I would be comfortable buying a box from them, and their price was not out of line at all for the work they do.

Thanks for the input. I have talked to a company that rebuild steering box in Canada and I'm concerned with the workmanship, although they seemed very knowledgeable. So I'll probably be going with Red-Head.
I installed twol NAPA boxes. They both had as much play between the steering shaft input and the sector shaft as the original box I took off.
I called Red Head (Seattle) and talked to Harvey. He's a very knowledgeable guy and impressed me very much. We talked about tire sizes, ratios, DSS stabilizers, etc. I ordered up one of their boxes. The first one was OK, but it wasn't near as tight as I figured it should be. There was no dust boot on the sector shaft either.
I called them back (after 7 months), explained the problem, answered Harvey's questions and they had second box at my door in two days (Seattle to northern Idaho). It also had a pre-paid return UPS label. Though the second box did not have a dust cover either (I made one), it is very tight. For me, they are batting 50%, but they DO stand behind their product.
