Man, you should be getting better than that. Fill out your sig so we all know what your truck is. It'll help figure out the prob.

What tire size? Auto or manual? Whats your rpm's when in top gear doing 65 mph?

If you are being carefull you should be able to at least approach 18. Many do better than that. I am able to do that around town and on back roads and can approach or exceed 20 for long trips on the freeway. You may have a problem that needs to be addressed. As mentioned please fill out your sig and maybe we can help. Good Luck

Sounds like you may have one or more injectors that aren't functioning properly.

I am not sure what the problem is. My truck is stock and I have always gotten 16 > 18 around town and 20 > 22 on the highway when empty. You may have 4:10 gears which will make a difference. Mine is 3:55 I think.

I usually get what he is, depending how much stop and go I am in. I have the 4.10's and heavy 19.5" rolling stock. The extra width and height don't help, either.

Woops - I see you got the signature...thanks! For a dually, that's not too bad?

My thought, keep the truck, pick up a little 5-speed older Civic or Accord for a couple tousand dollars and drive that to work. In the end, it rarely makes sense to trade in a veichle and have to pay for another new one just to make the MPG's work out.

Case in point - I have a co-worker who, for the past 13 years, has driven a series of three Ford Festiva's to work, 55 miles each way. The first one cost him $900,(blew away in a tornado) the second $350, and after he hit a deer and totaled the second one, the third one he got for free. 35 mpg, built by Kia (farily reliable) and cheap to run. Now just about the time you say "Too small" well he's over 6' and weighs "a fair bit beyond average." it can be done.

What kind of speeds are you doing to and from work? On mine, if I'm doing 80 mph on the freeway, I only get about 14 maybe 15 mpg. Thats about 2200-2300 rpms. If I drive 70 to 75 mph I'll get 16-18 mpg. Thats at 1800 to 2000 rpms. BTW I drive 110 miles per day. All freeway driving and up and down several grades. So I've learned to take it easy and keep it at or just under 75 mph. My pocket book certainly likes it........
