Need help with fuel pressure

I have an '02 drw, 2wd truck I work out of. Tonight coming home from work, my autometer fuel guage started jumping around. It has been bouncing slightly between 12 and 14, (it used to stay steady on 15), but tonight it was going from 15 down to nothing shooting right back up to 15, stopping at 10, then bouncing all over the place. It seemed worse while I was idling. I thought before that it was just my sending unit. I have copper tubing coiled up with a needle valve cracked to protect the sending unit, but I thought maybe this wasn't enough and the sending unit needed replacement. Tonight though, I could here the pump making noised and it was not steady at all. Before, if you bumped the starter, you could here the pump slightly buzz, but not loud at all. Couldn't hear anything with the truck on.

The question I have is, what are my options: I haven't even had a chance to talk to airdog, but I need my truck. My livelihood depends on it, and the whole selling point to me on these units was dependability. How can I get going right now until my lift pump is fixed.

When my AirDog fluctuates is is because I'm going around the corner with low fuel. Apparently the pick up is too high. Now I keep it above 1/2 tank. Perhaps you have an air leak. They are only reliable between major crises. VP is a ticking bomb.

Thank you for the reply. The pump itself doesn't sound good, like it is surging, so I am thinking it maybe the pump. I have had the airdog for well over a year and 50000 miles without any problems, so I don't know why there would be an air leak, but I guess I will check it out. I guess I will rent a truck for now, and hopefully I can talk to airdog about a solution today. I guess thankfully I put the fuel gauge on for this very reason, and I hope I didn't hurt anything before I parked it. Its not like I drove it very far while it did this, but all I hear from everyone is how sorry the vp is.
