My turn for LP woes...
Well up until now i havent had many problems with the lift pump. I had to change it at about 130k, then i changed it at 170k a few weeks ago in Kentucky, and then i got in it yesterday and the psi was 0....is the in-tank conversion really worth it or what do you recommend?
With all due respect Mike, adding 2 stroke is NOT going to make a dead lift pump better. And the stock lift pumps (including the in-tank version) are junk.
There are much better options available from the aftermarket (Fass, Walbro, Mitsua). Of course, you pay a premium for them but they do work much better than the OEM LP.

So far I'm up to 381/826 and 379/831 and still keeping good pressure... But I'm not exactly stock either... Cummins Campaign Pump (4090046)...

EDIT: Oh Dr. Evil... It helps to start with fresh lift pump and then keep a steady diet of 2 cycle oil then the pump will last a good length of time...

I use Stanadyne Performance Formula Diesel conditioner in EVERY tankful, and my last two Lift Pumps made it less an 5,000 miles EACH.
The stock carter style pumps are a crap-shoot.
Some are good, most are junk.
Now running a Glacier/Walbro.
20 psi @ idle, 17 WOT.
Oh i completely forgot about FASS.. I guess I will go that route because im tired of spending 70-80 bucks a shot on new lift pumps. I have another vehicle to drive for the moment, so im thinking about doing a p-pump conversion while I can and completely doing away with electrical crap...is it worth it?
