Missing 24 valve?
I noticed my truck has an intermitant miss sometimes. Today I drove to autozone and when I got there before I could shut it off I noticed it. I noticed this once before but it went away so I didn't worry about it. I have no noticeable power loss and it runs really good other than that. The only two times I have noticed this it was at an idle under no load at operating temp with the truck stationary. I just had a new lift pump put in so I don't think it could be that. I would have power problems if it was fuel related wouldn't I? Don't know if my using howes fuel additave could be responsible either. Just had a new mapp sensor put in too. So far not a big problem but if I can find the cause and fix it I would be much happier. Any body got any ideas?
Thanks

Out on a limb here, but if an injector goes it won't be intermittent. Don't want to scare you, but VP44 might be a possibility. I'd look for a flakey electronic part, like a crank sensor before anything else.

my truck did that all its life ..its in the pcm flash that it is running on ,(mine started the miss/flutter after a reflash for the 98's) you might notice that it won't do it when the ac is on , but it will if the compresser is not running . it has done the flutter/ miss with all 4 of my vp's that i have had , this is not something to worry about in my opinion
My 98.5 does the same thing as travjrath explained. When its warmed up and the A/C is off it will seem to have a slight miss. I had to replace the VP-44 and put a new lift pump on in the begining of dec. 03 and it does the same as it did with the old one. It seems to be the most noticeable in the summer when the a/c is on when its at operation temp after if been a hwy speeds and you stop and the clutch on the a/c compressor kicks in and out.
