My '01 has suddenly developed a problem and I've been to busy/lazy to check it out. I thought I'd run it by y'all first.

MIL is on with code P0238-Map sensor voltage high
(I have a power puk plugged into the Map sensor)

Intermittently I have drivability symptoms. Basically no or low power with a boost gauge that barely moves. My EGT's will rise to the 700-800 range and no smoke.

Other times it accellerates good and makes boost and some smoke.

I pulled the intake hose off the turbo and didn't find any significant runout. I thought the impeller was a little hard to spin but it was not rough in any way.

The diagnosis chart is written for the DRB but I guess I could back probe the wiring to do voltage test. I'm worried that the problem is in the turbo. It's a dog at 0-2 pounds of boost

 

I'd put my money on the MAP sensor or the wiring for the MAP sensor........

 

Remove the Wastgate and see if you can move the lever on the turbo easily. It should be able to open and close very easly. Also the turbine should spin very easly. If you spin it with your finger it should keep spinning. If those are good check the actuation of the wastegate. If you have access to a snap-on Solous you can actuate the wastegate by computer. So let me know how that goes.
