Manual tranny fluid...help!
Manual tranny fluid...help!
I called all over today trying to find some castrol syntorque 75-80 for my NV4500. I finally went to the dealer & they gave me oil that says NV3500 on the front instead of NV4500. Is this oil the same as the NV4500 oil or different?
Take it back to the dealer and tell him you have a Diesel Dodge not a gas.
They did same tom me first time I asked, told them to BE SURE it's for the Diesel NV4500 5 speed, they looked up again and...ooooh, it's another type
In theory you should have them sign a paper they are responsible for damages if they give you the wrong part.....
I asked this to the counter man, he said I was ok now with the correct type.
I think he learned a lesson (maybe)
BTW mine was $ 22.00/quart, I bought 4 of them.

Well, called another dealer & the NV3500, NV5600 take 5w30 oil. The NV4500 has its own part# & it is 75w85 synthetic. I thought it was different & glad I asked now. I guess I should have checked this at the dealer before I left, but thought they would for sure give me the right stuff. Thanks for your help guys, couldn't find any info when I searched the forums. Here are some keywords to make searching easier for the next guy. NV4500 oil same as NV3500 oil, no way. Castrol syntorque 75w85 or nothing, unless you use amsoil etc. Thanks Tate, those part#'s are correct. Hope this helps the next guy.
