LS diff

I am getting ready to order a new 4 wheel drive diesel and don't know if I should get the ls rear or not.

My truck is helpless in 2wd even with the limited slip. I think that it is all the weight over the front end and the torque of the Cummins. I would definitely get the LS if you live in an area that gets any snow at all or if you do any type of off road driving.

I agree. If you are in a cold climate, get the LS. Every little bit helps. I don't have it and my truck is worthless in 2WD in more that 2 inches of snow.

thames oh yes it can make a big difference if you go off road at all or are just in a slippery spot some place. It makes your 4x4 more of a real 4x4. ;D

alright, i have the limited slip. i have a problem when turing sharp that somethings catchin so the inner wheel squaks, ne clues?

Well, that's normal to an extent depending upon how tight a turn you're talking about. You can probably stop it by adding some friction modifier to the rear, but you don't want to put too much in and make it ineffective. Add some and drive a few fairly tight figure eights, then see if it's quieter in tight turns.

I also would get it. I have had it on every vehicle that I could. However, it can present a problem. Off-road it is helpful but in the snow and ice it can be helpful a lot of the time but in certain situations it can be detrimental. When both rear wheels are spinning in very slick conditions it tends to swing the vehicle sideways, whichever way the slope is running. As opposed to one wheel spinning and the other one not which would actually hold the vehicle from sliding sideways. So sometimes it can make a bad situation worse. Just remember to bear that in mind. What would really be nice would be if they offered one that you could turn on and off.

kingofdodge. I went to synthetic ams oil in july and i really like it i have it in tranny,trans case and rear end.they all run cooler and work great. i going to do the frt when i get a chance to change it. ;D

For Barry they do make one you can turn off if you can get by the price. its call an air locker but they do cast. ;D
