Loss of power

Good luck on whatever you do, and please post the results.
A new MAP did not fix the problem. After about 65 miles of normal driving I ran up behind a slow driver and let up to rate with him till a passing spot came up. When it did there was no acceleration for the truck. No power. I clutched it, let it return to idle, and everything was normal again for the remaining 30 miles of the trip.
If possible get a good scanner and read out all of the values the ECM and the PCM actually see instead of throwing parts at it. The scanner will also show you codes that may be present.
If you find that a sensor is out of whack, eg temperature or pressure or whatever, go for the cables and connectors first. In many cases I have been able to repair some stuff by simply cleaning the connectors and voila! the 'puter sees the correct values again and it works.

Alpine is right. My truck had the dead spot in the pedal when it was raining or after it rained. I took my MAP sensor cleaned it good with electro clean put some dielectric grease on it and it's been good.
Ok, I am glad I am not alone, the dealer where I have taken my truck to has never experianced these problems before, my problems seem to be basicaly the same as everyone else's except that I have to restart my truck 4 or 5 times before it will even think about getting out of my driveway, it will have full power for about 10 ft. then lose almost all power, then I restart it and it will go a little further and do it again. At first start up it blows white smoke big time if I try to bring up the RPM'S in nuetral, after 4 to 5 restarts or the engine warms up it will run great the rest of the day until the engine cools of, then it is back to the same old thing again, also when cruising at 1500 or about 55 mph it will just lose power like someone turned a switch of and I have to floor it to regain power HELP! 2001 DODGE CUMMINS, AUTO, 55,000 MI. FUEL FILTER HAS BEEN CHANGED ALSO NEW LIFT PUMP DEALER WANTS TO TRY NEW INJECTION PUMP. ANY ADVICE?

i would try the connection thing that alpine and others have talked about first.these things run on electricity in volts thats what makes them tick if the connections are bad and volts are low then the ecm doesn't work right.most dealer don't know spit they change parts and keep the mechs working and warranty comp spending.
