my truck is in the sig.. now has gauges. it seems to have an intermitent problem

driving around town, i swear on everything, it has less and less power... if it's parked over night it'll start up, run fine and everything is ok until it's been driven an hour or two....

then is when i notice, contant egts, constant boost, but not as much power... engine revs to 3K when getting on the freeway, wont lock up until about 55-60 when usually it locks up around 42-45... and also has ZERO smoke, not that thats a bad thing, but when its running good, it'll leave a puff if i get on it..

 

Any way you could hook up a code reader and pull some codes for us?

 

I'm wondering if you have a tranny problem. You said that it'll rev to 3k, and won't lock until 55-60. I'm not an auto tranny expert, but I'd start there... after pulling the codes.

 

the check engine light has never come on... no light, no codes..... right?? i tried the on-off thing a few times, but nothing ever showed up code-wise

 

it's not like it's totally noticable.. i mean i notice it, but the wife doesn't... its like the EZ is not working all the time, or i have a short or something.. how likely is that?

 

You can have codes without a check engine light. Roll into auto zone and use their code reader.

 

The key on-off-on-off-on trick does not work with '99s. Only '00s-'02s (or maybe even '01s-'02s, not sure.) Ph4tty is right though; I've had as many as 6 codes stored without ever seeing a check engine light (and no, the bulb is not bad )
