Looking at a24 valve...need help

I am going to go look at a 1999 2500 extended cab,
2wd, no rust in doors or rockers, some dents, never been modified, just has a turnover ball in it, 290k miles.

Could you list out some things to look for when looking at the truck?

Also, he told me it has the following issues, and described them.....

"When driving hte truck, it will not rev past 1500 rpm, this happends after initial start up, and allowing it to warm up alittle bit. After about .5-2 miles, if you let the RPMs drop to Idle, then start driving again the truck runs like its supposed to."

Another issue the truck has is, he says it has a cracked exhaust manifold. which is not a big deal to me.

About hte first problem i am guessing that there is a VP44 issue.

I am wondering what this truck is worth, and if its worth buying it with this problem.

How much is a new Vp44? is it worth going to straight to a Hotrod or somthing like that?

Thanks guys!

Check for a 53 Engine Block! Tend to crack.... do a search!

I would replace it.

No on the Hotrod... there are other (better) ways to make power. Not worth the money, IMO

New VP-44 is in the $950-1050 range.

Thanks guys!
