Lift pump? Injection pump? Injector?
I have a 1998 24 valve my truck runs fine idleing hot or cold it doesn't matter the problem I am having is once the engine comes up to normal operating temp it starts missing out no power horsepower derates and can't drive any faster then 35 to 40 mph but only does this while driving and engine temp is up please help
Gauges. If you don't have them you will regret it. The best onboard troubleshooting tools you could have besides a code reader.
Get your self a container of ice water. When it starts acting up on you, poor the ice water on the injection pump. If it gets better for a while, it's your injection pump. There are a lot of threads on here about fuel pressure. It is the primary killer of injection pumps. Should keep it between 15 and 20, below 10 is the kill your pump zone.
