Lift pump... Can't hear it!!!!

I know I am supposed to hear the fuel pump when IO first turn the car onto the run position, but I can;t hear it at all... I have the dead pedal, and I have the 216 code. Could the fuel pump be the problem that is setting off all these codes? my FP is fine right now.

Turn the key to the "ON" position, then 'bump' the starter.
(turn the key to the start position for a split second, not long enough for the engine to start)
That will signal the ECM to run the pump for approx 30 seconds.

If this still does not fix it, then does that mean the pump is dead? will that cause these codes?

If your lift pump is dead, then your injection pump has been pulling fuel from the fuel tank. This will kill an injection pump. You have what is commonly reffered to as the "injection pump death code." If it is not dead today, it may soon be. Some have reported getting that code and getting several thousand miles out of their injection pump. So, not necessarily a death sentence for you VP-44.

All and all, if your left pump is dead, get it replaced quickly.

if bumping the starter does not work it would be worth swapping in a different relay just to be sure

If your getting those kind of numbers your lift pump is working fine. Keep an eye on your gauge, but most of all enjoy driving your truck. It seems that the stock pumps die a slow death. When pressures get below 5-6 psi at WOT, I'd start looking for a new pump.

My pressures are 13.5 at idle 10-11 psi running down the hwy and 6-8 psi WOT. I don't drive WOT all the time. When I do go WOT, I try to roll my foot into it, not slam the pedal to the metal or carpet or rubber mat, you get my point.

If you have lots of expendable income than the sky is the limit on fuel pumps, i.e. the FASS and AIRDOG. Turns out those pumps aren't wear proof either.

Simple rule to remember anything mechanical can and will break at some point along the line.
