Letting The Water Out Of The Fuel
Letting The Water Out Of The Fuel
Today was my first time (just got my truck) to let the water out of the fuel canister on the fuel filter. After letting it run for a few seconds I closed the valve and started the engine. I noticed some liquid pouring out of the bottom of the truck. I turned off the engine and looked all around but I didnt see anything leaking. I turned the truck back on and saw it was the hose from the canister that holds the fuel filter. I took some pliers and pushed the center tab down and the leak stopped.
Normally I wouldnt worry about it but the manual says DO NOT START the engine. Why is this?
My question is did i hurt anything? and do i need to do anything? It did not run for more then 2 seconds on both times.

I think they are trying to keep you from getting air in the lines. When I replaced my fuel filter the 1st time the check engine light came on some code I don't remember was in the computer. When I put the Vulcan big line kit in I had a hard time getting it to start (usually starts right up) this was from a lot of air in the line. You are supposed to bump the starter turn over but not try to start 3 or 4 time to get all the air out of the lines but I had to bump it like 20 times and then it finally started. I don't understand why fuel was leaking from the filter drain, on my truck there is a lever that is open in 1 direction and closed in the other.
