Exclamation killed 2 vp's yet im maintaining fp???

well here goes....original pump died at 175k miles, after having the redline, ez, and ddp220's on for about a month, always maintaing atleast 14psi of fuel pressure...wide open throttle run, redline on 100%, truck dies, not to restart. i ended up finding a used pump from another '01 for 600 bucks, which i was told was a good pump. Just the ez and ddp's were on the truck this time, pulled out of traffic, hammered on it in third, truck sputtered and died...got it restarted, then the next day same exact thing happened, and the truck didnt start again. sent that pump to industrial, where the tech told me that my ez didnt fry it, yet the fuel solenoid was shot, and somehow my truck fried it. ***? i havent yet got the complete list of all the codes from that pump, hoping to tho. i am sending my original to them to see cause of failure in that, and if it is also the fuel solenoid going out, what is causing it??? where can i look??? i had originally thought i had bought a bad used pump, but the tech assured me that wasnt the case. can you guys help me out on what would fry my vp44??? i dont want to buy a reman, and then be out that money when it happens again. thanks -jake if any info post here, or email me at jakeydiesel@hotmail.com

As you already know, codes, if any, are very important. If you don't think it's a bad pump and you have good FP, the next place to look would be electrical problems or ECM, maybe.

I will be interesting to see what you come up with.

With an 01 you can just turn the ignition three times without starting the truck and the codes will pop up on the odometer. I'm guessing the redline killed the first one. Maybe it just finished it off since it was an worn/tired pump. Use your redline conservatively in the future- it can be rough on IP's.

Ooops, thanks ph4tty, I missed the '01 part. I guess us "last century" guys are like that.
