KDP on 24v?!?!

Can the killer dowel pin occur on the 24v trucks as well? I have a 2002 and would like to nkow how often this occurs if it can as I will fix that right away.

YES, there has been at least one member on here with personal experience with a 2002.

They may not all bite, but some do.

Yeah I wish I would have known this when I had everything off the front of my truck... Would have been a GREAT time to get that taken care of..

I just watched a video on youtube and the man said that most of the newer trucks have a provision built into the case with a lip preventing the pin from walking out. He has it on his truck and shows the lip clearly. The cummins manufacturers said they used the 12v case until the ran out of stock then made this newer case to fix the problem so its a 50/50 shot haha

12v case is a completely different animal than that of the 24v. The 24v can still have the KDP issue. The case I pulled off my 24v had no way of retaining the pin, although my pin was still securely in the block. Opening it up is the only way to be sure. Or getting a boroscope and going through the IP nut access hole.

Ouch that looks like it hurt....Bolt got loose and fell out huh? Looks to be I'm going to be pullin the case off in the spring when the truck comes back out to put loctite on the bolts and put the tab on the pin. I've see enough carnage to be sure that it's a problem with all these trucks.
