jumpy guages? fuel issues?

just got a new tranny installed, now have fuel, boost, pyro, and tranny guages, dont know if these guages were hooked up correctly as i bought this truck with them installed, they did just hook up tranny guage with the new rig, what is happening now is that the boost guage isnt really registering much, anything to do with the new tranny? heavier duty conveter etc... dont know if that affects boost? and now the fuel pressure guage is jumping around as well, concerned for obvious reasons on these vp44 injection systems, it seems to be starting fine, left it sitting for a week and it snowed here and it wasnt plugged in, but started right up, but then noticed the jumping while driving around town, does the cold affect any of this stuff? i have some pretty good gear on this rig but i know if wont last forever and i've only owned this rig for a year and a half now, it has 165,000 on it, dont know when or if an injection pump was replaced,so... any ideas?
the stadyne filter /pump is a reverse flow set up and i dont know how long these things may last, is a fass a reverse flow system? or can it be? these rigs are a little over $200, so quite a bit cheaper, it runs 12-14 idle and down to 7-8 running, i either need to upgrade or get a replacement for this stanadyne to just bolt right up, seems like it is a good set up though and has nice stainless hook ups hoses etc...

Fuel pressure gauges on an ISB are exposed to a violent life if left unabated to the injection pump. The VP-44 puts quite a bit of noise (Pulsations) into the fuel feed line. This can be registered as needle rattling or vibrations at certain RPM’s. If left like this for a period of time, it will knock out sending units on electric gauges (Metal fatigue on sensitive soldered joints), and cause mechanical gauges that have direct diesel into the cab to start “Buzzing” and eventually fail.

With saying all that, I would suggest double checking your gauge with another known working unit. This will confirm or deny your current gauges operation.

ALSO I would invest in a snubber. This is more or less a hydraulic shock absorber. Auto Meter sells them…here is the link.

NOW for your reverse flow setup…….im not familiar with that. Can you enlighten us on more of a verbal flow schematic to give a better idea of how your system is plumbed? This might have something to do with your erratic pressures.

My fuel pressure dropped under load like yours until I replaced the fuel system. I believe that eliminating the banjo bolt & related restriction helped. It's now at 14-17 measured on ISSPro mechanical without isolator. I have a needle valve & the gauge makes a racket & jumps around as described above when the valve is open too much. I went with AirDog because I'm trying to stop working on my vehicles & the local shop recommended and promised to support it. I've observed Dan giving great support for FASS & would probably have gone that way had I done the install myself. Spend the $$ & fix it the 1st time is my recommendation.
