I've about had enough!
I'm at a loss. I had to replace the APPS, no big deal. Truck had a new VP44 before I bought it 1000mi. ago. So now it will intermittently loose power and when it does it blows tons of white smoke. Still throws the 1693 code but the check engine light is now off. I'm thinking it might be the lift pump. Help me out fellow DTR's cause I'm getting a little bit .

It smells like unburnt fuel, does have a blue tinge to it. It only smokes when it loses all power and only when its not in gear and you try to rev it up. it will only go to 2100rpm tops.

boost runs 25psi sixlug, yes the vp44 is painted black patdaly, please inform me as to why that's bad! I did check the lift pump has maybe 1psi at an idle, so i'll replace that and see what happens.

Black painted pumps are known for poor quality.. with 1psi of fuel pressure at idle, you maybe due for a quality lift pump and injection pump.. who installed the injectction pump? Possible warranty?

The VP is under warranty yet. the mechanic that changed it said he will stand behind it, I will have him change the lift pump while he has it. My truck is doing the same thing that other failing VPs are doing on youtube videos. So here we go!

Supply that VP with 15psi at idle and I'll bet it's fine. I had a vp truck that had lift pump problems. I ran the vp dry 3 times and it never failed or went bad. A Holley Blue pump on the frame with a draw straw fixed it. I think pumps work better pushing fuel than they do pulling it. Good luck.
