Intermittent throttle problems

I have a 2002 3500 with 6 speed. When I am going down the road and let off the throttle and then reapply the throttle, the truck acts like it is not getting any fuel. Also, if I apply the cruise control the charging system goes haywire and overcharges, and the idle goes to about 1000 rpm.
What in the world is going on.

Hi BigJim:
Welcome to the site! Fill out your truck info and also get the codes read on the truck. You can use the 3 times on and off of the ignition switch (with out starting) and leave it on on the 3rd time. At this time look at the odometer and write down the codes that appear. You may show p1693, and p0216, if you do your in for some work.
These codes will indicate that you need a injection pump, which should still be under warrantee on a 2002 truck if you are under 100k mi.
Your simptoms sound like the dreaded "Dead Pedal" I hope it's not.
