Question Intercoolers

I have heard the intercooler used on 24V trucks is higher capacity than those on 2nd Gen 12V trucks, but does anyone know if the intercoolers are the same between the SO and HO trucks? I'm thinking about swapping one into my '98 12V.

Doesn't that take some work? I thought the physical dimension between 2nd and 3rd Gen CACs were quite a bit different. Mind posting some pics once you get it in there?

Certainly!

The CR CAC's are a little bit better, and the '98 doesn't have one, so I think it'll be a good match for the pair of HE351s going on there.

I plan to locate the CAC in front of the AC condenser, by swapping their normal positions.

I have to fabricate all ducting & plumbing for the twins anyhow, so the extra fit for the CR style CAC shouldn't be too bad.

You're definitely going after more of a project than I am!
Someone offered me a free '05 plastic-cap CAC, I turned 'em down.

I wouldn't take a plastic CAC either - not too worried about holding boost, but the plastic tanks (just like on a radiator) will eventually crack & leak with age.

There'll be plenty of pix of the twins project as it nears completion!
