Intank pump
Intank pump
I am putting a fass on my buddies 01 dodge, and i need to know if it has the update. any way you can tell buy with out droping the tank. it has the one one the block still. If it needs a stand tube is their an easy way to make it. any help would be great thanks
The easiest way is to put the key in the ignition and "bump" the starter. So you will let the truck crank for a second but not actually start. This will turn on the lift pump. If you hear a buzzing sound from the tank, then you have the pump in the tank. Or if you hear it coming from the drivers side of the block, it is on the motor still. You could also follow the fuel line to the drivers side of the motor and see a pump there on the block.
Ok it still has the pump hooked up on the motor, and the buzzing sounds like it is coming from both places. would it haf both pumps on the truck, going to unhook the one pump to seeif it still buzzes from the tank.
If the in tank pump has been installed by a dealer, the original pump will have been replaced by a block with banjo bolts that are in the same location as the fittings from the old pump. also the old pump wire will have a extension wire assy attached that will rout to the tank modual.
I still has the pump their, so i went ahead and put the fass on, the distructions said that with an in tank pump it would bearly prime. Well it primed alover the motor, hose got away from me. Going for atest ride to day to make sure it works. Also frogot the fass kit is great, easy to install and all the parts were right.
