Installing hubs on an 01... 94-02 D60
Im wondering if anyone has done this.
It appears that the ball joint knuckles are the same as the 1995 - 97 ford 1 ton knuckles which had big rotors and large bolt on calipers not the earlier punch pinn. if this is the case why could someone take the dodge knuckles off change the outer stub axle to a ford stub and install the ford knuckles, acheiving hubs, eliminating the expensive sealed wheel bearings and reducing a little more drag off of the rotating assembly?
We used to steal 89-93 dodge knuckles and swap them on to 80-91 fords to get the better brakes and same with dana 44 axles most knuckle out parts interchange, ford, jeep, dodge, IH.
What do Yall think
Reason for this is a friend with an 01 has had his second sealed wheel bearing go out on the driverside in 60k miles and recently lost a spider in his d60 front end instead of being able to nurse it home things came apart inside and chewed up alot, R&P axle shaft, more than would have happened in a different application.
With the wheel bearings my old dodge and my current ford as long as you pack the bearings occassionally you can count on 150k+ miles out of them and they dont cost a fraction of that much to replace.
