improved mileage question
I think this has been covered before, but I did a search and came up dry. I'm getting about 400mi on a full tank, and I'd like to see a bit more. What can I do to improve my mileage? I'm planning on getting an edge comp and doing an oil change pretty quick. Would changing the type of oil I use show an improvement?
Thanks!
Ian
Thanks!

Ian,
I run full synthetics in my crank case and rear ends. I can say for sure that it would help you to switch, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt. By the way I get about 600 miles to a tank full (20mpg)and I fill up about every other day. I do alot of driving on the thruway and the cruise is set at 75mph all the time. 3.54 gears and 245's

the best ways to improve mileage are too keep your RPM's in check and don't race stoplight to stoplight. also, check your filters... fuel and air... wouldn't be a bad idea, actually preferable, to get some gauges before you toss on that Comp.

I just changed the air filter, no idea about the fuel filter, and I'll try those synthetics next time they're due for a service. I'm running 33s too. I didn't think that my style of driving would affect my mileage that much, but I guess I'll tone it down a bit
its just so much fun ripping around
thanks guys,

My Michelin 285/75/16's are listed at 32.8". I add 3.5% more miles to my odometer reading before dividing by # of gallons.
But my truck came with 265's. If yours were 245's...you will be adding a lot more miles (over 7%)!
After correction...I got about 18.3 mpg average on last 1,000 mile check.
Good Luck
