idleing in neutral

In the mornings when I warm up my truck I idle it up to 1200 and have the transmission in neutral is this hard on the trans. Should I have the truck in park???

Nope, just make sure it can't move and your parking brake works REAL good. I've been told by folks on this site and tranny shop that the fluid is not being pumped in park. I routinely use nuetral and 1200 for my morning warmups. Makes for a happier tranny.

It's a safety issue only. In park there is no fuild movement. I'm not sure why you need to have the fluid moving, but it won't hurt anything. With 160,000 miles on the original tranny I've never done it.

It won't hurt anything idling in park but the fluid won't warm up either. Best to idle in N if warming up is what you're after.

Turn on your air conditioner.... The trans fluid will heat up pretty hot without the clutch fan on.
