hydraulic clutch problem
I have a 01 dodge but with a gasoline engine with a nv4500.
we put a new clutch kit and release bearing, and had the transmission synchro's fixed as well.
We put it back together correctly, but when we went to start it and put it in gear it would go in any gear.
If you start it in gear, with clutch engaged it will try to move even if you stand on the brakes hard.
We bought a new slave cylinder and thought we would try that. it didnt come in a kit, and the only ones I have ever done came with the master cylinder and was a sealed bled system.
I have screwed around with it for a at least three hours trying to get the clutch pedal back and still no luck, and I have bled it every way possible.
I think im gonna go ahead and get a master cylinder too.
I guess I am just needing advice from someone who has ran into this before.
I have searched this but not much luck.
thanks!

The slave cylinder and hydraulics are known to fail around clutch time in this set up. I replaced the whole mess with the aftermarket SouthBend matched to my clutch as the stock set up can fail soon after a heavier clutch is installed.
It sounds like your clutch is not releasing the disc fully when depressed. This can be from misadjustment, wrong parts, or parts installed incorrectly. You sound like you are a wrencher and are familiar with the system.
Having to replace the stock hydraulics may do the trick, but check the other stuff as well.

Check the hydraulics first. Did you have trouble aligning the splines on the clutch disc? If so you may have bent the clutch disc and the disc is dragging, may need to replace the clutch disc. It could also be the pilot bearing got damaged. Either way you have to pull it apart.
