Hydro boost Problems

We are having issues with the hydro boost on my brother's truck. It is a 2000 model 24 valve, 4 wheel drive, 5spd. Does anyone know whether the hydro boost unit can simply be rebuilt?

Thanks in advance,

Dawson

Mine was leaking this fall and i found a seal kit for $40. Yes you can rebuild it, just make sure you disassemple it over an oil pan, bucket or something. The power steering fluid gets everywhere!

I had mine rebuilt on my 2001 by a company in Portland Oregon for $75.00. They recharged the accumulator, replaced some seals & turn around time was 3 days.

Thanks for the input guys.

Chainzaw, do you remember where you got the rebuild kit? I am hoping the only thing wrong with our booster is the leaking seal. Did you simply have to replace the seal only or did it require replacing all the other parts that come with the kit? Obviously, we will know more once we take it apart, just hoping for the best.

Tankeryanker, I may look into having it rebuilt if I have trouble locating a rebuild kit.

Thanks again guys,

Dawson

The KIT-50 should work according to this link.

I really wish I had looked into this when my original went. The first replacement was bad out of the box and I'm not 100% sure the second is much better. Might be time to hit the junkyard and try to grab a stock/factory one and rebuild it.

Do a search for Geno's Garage the shop will sell you a kit and an instructional step by step video. I have used them a couple of times and now know why so many people on this site swear by them!
