How much it too much?

How much is too much boost for a HY35? I put a J-hook on it last night and it climbs up to 30psi (where i have the limit set on the juice with attitude) with no problem, but i am afraid I am gonna blow up the turbo if i go too high so...

How much is too much?

before I changed turbos, mine would peg my gage at 40+, and hit 1600 plus for temps. cant say for sure how long it would have lasted, so I just changed it out.

i have always heard anything over 35 is just a waste, (hot air) at 30 you will be fine..

The 35 psi limit is for HX-35's.
The HY-35 adds no hp above 32 psi.... from my experience. It just super heats the intake air so your gauge reads 'expansion pressure' instead of the desired 'compression pressure'.

If you accelerate smoothly, on level ground, you can actually feel where the boost gauge keeps climbing but the acceleration curve drops off above 32 psi.

It's subtle, but if you look for it you should feel it. Worked for me (4" at the time), but with your stacks you may see slightly different findings??

Not to worry about damaging the HY-35. They are tough. I know guys, with too much testosterone, that repeatedly took them to 40 psi for several yrs. w/o blowing them up! They lost HP but thought it was cool.
