How much power can be added with stock transmission?
How much power can be added with stock transmission?
I have a stock truck (except for intake and exhaust) and was wondering if I could safely add a Edge EZ without destroying the tranny? I would do it more for the fuel economy than the power ($1.17 (4.42 US gallon) for a liter of fuel is starting to suck). Will running this on the lowest setting wreck the drive train parts?
Thanks.
Thanks.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Trans is fairly robust.
Don't forget to service. Fluid(ATF+4), filter, band sdjustments, no snake oil.
Many trans failures are direct result of misuse. When you are working it hard, Just slow down and take some extra time when you're towing.

Mine started acting up after 2 months of having the Jw/A. Starting getting sloppy on the upshifts, sort of sliding thru gears instead of haveing a nice firm upshift. The EZ has less punch to it so you'll probably be ok assuming your tranny in in good shape to start with.
My tranny lasted 10 months with an EZ and it was in good shape and regular fluid changes 79,000 on the clock now. No hard driving either. It just depends. My EZ is on the work bench waiting for tax time to get a new converter and VB.
Good luck.
Good luck.
I have had my juice on since last May, and tapped the wire in August, so far so good. But i try not to be super hard on it, so i turn it down when towing, but have been saving for a rebuild since i put it on.
I've had an EZ on mine for about 20,000 miles so far. I haven't noticed any issues so far. I have heard though that the power that the EZ puts out is about all the tranny will handle without tranny upgrades. I drive it pretty easy, 65 or so on the highway, and haul 1500-2000lbs in the bed every now and then and beat on her once in awhile

I have the Superchips tuner on mine (plus larger exhaust and K&N filter). If you research the tranny you'll find it is fairly robust with mild power upgrades. Keep the oil level at the proper level (not over- or under-filled), change it every so often, and pay attention to how it's operating and you should be fine. This tranny is made for up to 300-350 horsepower, depending on who you talk to. It WILL get trashed if you try to throw too much power at it. That's not what it's designed for. I have 168K on mine and have only had a governor go out on it. Just my 2 cents....
well my dad scared me out of adj. the bands on my tranny. i was gonna do it when i changed the fluid and filter. he said its real easy to screw that up, he said he screwed a tranny up by adj. the bands.
