I was told to only adjust valves when you notice a loss in power. so I say if it ain't broke drive it til it does

Both my trucks are quieter when it's warm, and they're fully warmed up. I checked the valve clearances at the FSM recommended interval (150,000 miles!) and all were within tolerance. Of course, the tolerance is ENORMOUS!

Just curious what's the story on your truck, you buy it with the low mileage or the original owner?

i've adjusted my valves twice in 213000 miles and can say it needed it both times, cummins did the first one and i couldn't really tell the difference, i suspect intermountain cummins wasn't as precise as i would like.....i did the last one to the correct specs and i can tell the difference.
it idles smoother makes less noise, and in general runs better
