How do you start a 12v on the floor without a truck?

I bought myself a spare 12v engine. I was told that you can start these things without a truck "just laying on the floor". You need a 12v and a source of diesel. Outside of that, it should start? You have to supply 12v to the fuel cut-off switch. I'm a newbie 12v guy. Abit of priming the fuel system and few batteries this thing should start? Of course a switch for the starter, but other than that it should work. I'm 24v guy, and I have to hear my new buy work
I can at least scare off my neighbors as they walk by with the clanky thing.

you can ground the battery to the block and hook up ur starter wire to the batter and just pump the solanoid, and yess you better have it held down or on blocks so it dont twist and yes have fuel and bleed out the air and i think it should fire, and yes you should get power to that shut off or just have a flat boared or something to choke the turbo of air and that will shut it down

and the solanoid for the starter, probably a switch would be a safer route.

Its not like your gonna run it too long. I just want to see if it will fire up. If it starts to move around too much, just pull off the 12v, the shut-off valve would close or just cut the fuel flow off. We used to do that with gasers, but we just pulled off the coil wires. Its not like its gonna jump 10 ft up in the air. It will wiggle around a bit, nothing to seriously at idle. At fully throttle, you might get to full lift off velocity. Its cheap entertainment.

Pull the solenoid right off the pump. That will automatically put it in the run position. If you need to shut it off, just press down on the lever.

You should have kept the frame that the 24v came in, and bolted the 12v into that.

Still have the frame. I just want to hear that 12v unmufflered roar. The 24v engine deal fell thru, so everything is mine again. It would fun to watch the engine crawl/bounce on the ground. Find a gaser engine to race against. Could take a video for everyone to watch.
