High Output

How can you (or me in this case) tell the difference between the regular 5.9 and the high output version? I have the six speed in mine does that mean it is the HO model? I have an 02 2500

Yes. 2001 and 2002, if you have the 6 spd, it's an HO. Auto's and 5spds are SO.
99 and 2000, the 6spd is a SO

Check the 8th digit of the vin. 6 = standard output. 7 = high output.

You can also look at the engine data plate on the side of the timing cover you never know when someone could have changed an engine
