Trans lock up

Trans lock up
I know this has been discussed before but I can't find the thread. My torque converter wants to lock and unlock between 40-50 mph. Someone said they bought a resistor and it fixed it. I was wondering if anyone had a part number so I could get it installed. Funny part is it didn't start until after Edge J/A was installed, but I hope its a quincidence.

Start by checking ans cleaning ALL of the ground connections. Then do an APPS reset. Doing those solved my simular problems.

Funny this should come up again now. I just had a new finding regarding this problem.
I have tried everything - the Sun Coast extra ground, apps reset, cable cleaning and replacing ends on all battery cables. The problem always recurred shortly.
Last week my alternator brush was worn out and sticking and the alternator has been a bit low charging intermittently for a while. Tapping the alternator with a hammer would jar the brush and restore the charging but that was just a temporary fix.
I replaced the alternator - now getting a steady 14.2 or so volt charge and the transmission problem went away - no more constant hunting for lockup in high. Apparently the erratic voltage from the alternator was causing spikes and lack of voltage and shift problems.

Also clean the ground cables where there mount to the block and the chassis. And I'd suggest doing the APPS reset. Oh, don't rush out so fast for an alternator. Do all the simple cheap fix's first.

Just check your alternator output - watch the gauge to see that it is consistently at 14.2 or so volts. If intermittent then it may be the cause. Voltage will drop in the mornings when the engine is cold and the heaters come on.
