So what is the highest safe EGT for pre-turbo pyro?

I get off the pedal around 1450F or so but that's after a WOT punch.
Part throttle shouldn't show 1400F...sounds like a sick turbo to me...my HX35 would show 37/38psi WOT with the wastegate "tight"...Banks Big Head wastegate diaphram.
Have you turned the TST down to try to defuel a little?

J double, there is a lack of boost and soot spray!

The manifold doesnt seal up either when it heats up, I checked that already.

My egts are considered high compared to our other duallie with the exact mods on it, except it has just a stock HX30 turbo with a j-hook. This truck on power level 5 pulling doesnt see no more than 1100 egts I understand the HX35w was a mistake to put on the truck, but it was fine 3 years ago when we put it on the egts just got worse thru the years! Something changed.

A WOT shot to 60 I see 1480 and backed off the throttle!

My cruising speed at 65 is 1200 egts, I would say thats alittle too high!

As for the waste gate it has a elbow on it with a adjustment screw that is screwed closed. I tried unscrewing it and it just made the truck sluggish from hell.

What do you see for boost for while cruising? You're definately up 5-600 deg while cruising.

If you got the time you might want to swap chargers and manifolds with your other 01. If that fixes the problem you know it's either the one of the two. I'd rather throw my time at it, instead of my money, if your not 100% sure what the problems is.

Oh i AGREE with you 100%. If we could have the down time on both trucks I would , but we have to have them for work Mon thru Sat. Boost at cruising is about 18- 20

Wow, cruising, boost on mine is 8-10psi. & exhaust temperatures are 500F-800F pre-turbo....lots of hills here. Sounds like something in the exhaust is closing up.

Yeah...way to high for cruising. I'm at about 3-5lbs at 65mph. Obviously something is loading the motor....any brake work done lately?

Good point, a slightly "stuck" caliper or what not, will cause high egt's.. Believe me I know. I had about 1550 degrees not towing when both of my fronts froze at the same time...
I Thought she was going to tear the front axle from under her...

Another thing is what are your EGT's when at idle?? If they are high at idle then i would suspect a problem in the exhaust, or a bad pyro gauge or probe.

There has been a few times where I have been driving down the road and had extremely high EGT's for the conditions and it ended up being a bad pyro gauge..

The exhaust leak is compounding things too. With a leak, you lose gas and heat energy (drive pressure) to the turbine. Which in turn produces less boost pressure for the amount of fuel injected and brings up the EGTs.

Jr. thanxs for the comment. That is what I think too. Im waiting too call ATS to see if they will honor there product. Reason being it was assembled by them and ceramic coated by them. My fingers are crosssed on this one!!

As for the brakes dragging. Checked them and there not!! Wish it was that easy!!!

If that was the case, how would you explain the high boost at cruise? It seems logical that it would increase EGT's, but not boost at cruise...I would think lower boost if anything.

**** Mopar...now I'm starting to get frustrated. I was thinking it could of been your parking brake dragging, but it that's not the case we need someone to start thinking "outside the box". It's gotta be something simple we're overlooking.

Is that empty or loaded?? Your engine is really loaded down to make that kind of boost and only cruising at 65 if you are empty. Even pulling my 9,000 pound trailer I only run 750 and 12 pounds of boost steady state cruising at 65.

Lets start with a base line. What is your idle boost pressure and EGT?

Good question. I think we all assumed those figures were cruising unloaded. Intake boost leak or the exhaust leak (manifold) make more sense now.
