Hesitation At Hard Accel - 1900-2000rpm

I searched but not for sure. I have a 2002 3500 Duallie. 24v 5.9 Cummins with the 5-speed tranny. Has hesitation during hard accel and sometimes when i drop a gear for passing. Any ideas? I've only seen white smoke once. Normally I feather the accel and ease for speed and it doesn't hesitate. I also have a stage 3 Hypertech running on stage three, but have never had this problem until the last 2 months. had the truck for 2 years. Any help would be nice, thanks guys!

Check your fuel pressure and fuel filter.

I have this problem with my 02 H.O. too, but it seems to take off again after 2300rpms or so. changed my fuel filter and it went away for maybe a week at the most and came back again. I've got a bad feeling its my IP.

I changed the fuel filter about 5 months ago. I checked for loose injector lines, but all were tight. Would the lift pump have anything to do with it?

I just went through the same thing. Ended up doing head gasket, IP, and injectors...wasnt the problem. Ended up being the MAP. It checked out correctly voltage wise but was failing when running. I would agree on changing the fuel filter (its cheap), and also check all your grounds on the MAP, APPS, and Cam sensor to be certain.

I ended up getting the MAP for pretty cheap if you end up going that route. Send me a PM for the link if you want.

Take a look through the thread i posted up, there was alot of good suggestions floating around.
