Sarah and I are going on a trip this coming week that we've been planning for a long time. Once I'm back, I have to take care of more family issues so I most likely won't make it unfortunately. I'll be there in spirit though.

Jack,
Are you talking about the stock lift pump or the pusher pump?
If it's the stock lift pump, could you just bypass the stock lift pump and eliminate it altogether?
I eliminated my stocker and the Holley Blue is working well for me. I did have to pull the bypass spring out of it and stretch it a little to get the pressure as high as I wanted it though. ;D

Chris
Well, got the lift pump off today. That wasn't too bad. The only potential thing that I might see as a pain is putting the banjo bolt on the input of the pump.
I did two pumps in less that two hours. If you take that little bolt loose that holds the inlet hose in place, the washer is fairly easily installed and then the hold down bolt can be reinstalled afterwards. Otherwise it is a pain.
Re:Help! Something seriously wrong
I changed mine once. Hopefully I'll never have to do it again. It wasn't hard. Cutting the new hose though and putting the fittings together was a PIA thought. Especially in 40* weather at night.
Re:Help! Something seriously wrong
Jack, I forgot what truck you have (ETH?) miles, and all of that. You've proably stressed your LP a bit with the comp, but you still got me worried now about my lift pump -- 19,000 miles on my truck, and my FP gauge is still sitting in my closet waiting for me to install it
I have a 99 ETC. I have a new pump on the way today and I'm hoping I'll be able to install it tonight. I have the old one out already so it shouldn't take me more than an hour or so to get it done. I have to get some crush washers at the parts store. Other than that, I have all that I need and I am waiting for the pump to be delivered.

Jack if they are in good shape (still black covered) you can use the old washers. I have not had one leak yet, although I generally loose at least one on a change. Tip, if you cannot find a small part that you dropped, check the oil pan flange on the engine, they like to hit the starter and stay on the flange.

I did lose one on the removal of the old pump. The one I lost was the one for the input of the lift pump from the tank. The others were easy to keep track of, but due to the way I had to loosen the banjo bolt on the input side, it came right off and I haven't seen it since. :-[

Funny thing is that I just got done calling around to parts stores, and there is only ONE store that I could find that has crush washers. They only have the copper ones.
Re:Help! Something seriously wrong
Did I miss the point where you answered the question about having a pusher pump? ??? If you do, makes me wonder what the point of the pusher would be if the lift still failed...

Hmmmm....

Tony
I do have a pusher pump. It's a stanadyne fuel manager with a 30 micron filter attached to the frame of the truck. The only thing I can think of is that the lift pump may have eventually been going bad anyways, but I'm not sure. I think that without the pusher pump, my injector pump would have been toast. Hard to say really.

Re:Help! Something seriously wrong
Seems like the pusher pump is a waste of time. Earlier you said that you had negative fuel pressure. I understand that it may help the stocker, but it just seems like installing that was all for not since it didn't do much good when it counted. My truck ran fine with a bad stock lift pump. I only found out about my bad lift pump when I went to check the pressure. It had zero, but the truck still ran, until I broke the vacuum of the VP44 when I opened the test port.
I could understand if the pusher helped by keeping the pressure up around 4 psi or better, but it did NO good in this situation.
