HELP! radiator won't drain!
HELP! radiator won't drain!
I turned the little drain valve, only would turn 1/4 turn to counterclockwise then stops hard. Nothing came out.
What am I doing wrong? I tried pulling out when I turn it and still nothing.

Re:HELP! radiator won't drain!
I just drained mine about 3 wks ago and it took me about 15 mins to get that drain opened all the way. You got to turn and pull out and twist and pull and turn and pull and keep tugging till you pull that drain plug out. Try truning and pulling back on it at the same time, worked for me.
I got so mad and stopped trying for about 10 mins then tried again and got it. The funny was it took about an hour to drain all the coolant and I got about 5.5 gals out of the system.

Ricki
Re:HELP! radiator won't drain!
The coolant will come out a whole lot faster if you loosen the thermostat housing so air can get into the block. Sometimes this can also be accomplished by pulling one of the heater hoses, depending on where it goes into the engine (must be a high place on the block/head).

Chris
Re:HELP! radiator won't drain!
So that whole valve comes out?????? All the way out????
Is it just a plug? I don't get it, seems you would just turn it and a hole would line up to drain. I pulled pretty hard while turning it and it showed no signs of pulling out. I am afraid of breaking it!!!! It will only turn 1/4 turn is this normal?
This POS is kicking my a$$.

Re:HELP! radiator won't drain!
I had my thermostat out while draining mine.
I was afaird of breaking mine also but I didnt and I pulled and twisted the crap out of it. It does not come all the way out, just turn and pull out and twist at the same

Re:HELP! radiator won't drain!
015speed: You have to pull and twist at the same time, your right it will only go about a 1/4 turn but it does pop out. There is a O-ring at the end of the plug and that bugger is a S.O.B. to get out. But the plug will not come all the way out. Try it, drink a beer, try it, drink a beer, try it, drink a beer.
